2021 British Physical Thinking Challenge

Intermediate & Senior Physics Challenge

The Intermediate & Senior Physics Challenge is organised by the British Physics Olympiad organising committee comprising the University of Oxford, the British Physical Society and the Odgen Foundation.

The test questions link basic physical principles with life, apply basic physics knowledge to practice, and have novel investigation methods; All English test papers, all multiple-choice questions, challenging. The purpose is to encourage physics research, stimulate physical potential, expand students' lateral thinking skills, and improve their problem-solving skills.

As a top-level high school physics competition in the UK, the difficulty of the competition is very consistent with the PAT required to apply for the physics and engineering departments of Oxford and Imperial College, as well as the difficulty and question style of the natural science and engineering pre-interview screening exams in Cambridge. The awards can become a green channel for the application of science and engineering majors in world-renowned universities!

It is reported that the 2021 British Physical Thinking Challenge has a total of 430 students from 3957 international schools and key high schools across the country, including 2263 intermediate and 1694 advanced.

The awards are divided into gold, silver and bronze awards. Its scoring rules first draw the winning score line according to the proportion of the total score ranking of British students, and then the results of students in other countries directly refer to the winning score line to decide whether to win.

According to the winning score line of the British Physical Thinking Challenge Global Awards, the global gold (intermediate) winning ratio is 21.4%, and only 452 people have won the award; The global Gold Award (Advanced) winning ratio was 29.1%, and only 467 people nationwide won the award.

It is not easy for Meilun students to stand out from such a competitive challenge.

Hereby, I would like to congratulate all the teachers, students, parents and people from all walks of life who are always concerned about the development of Meilun, and congratulate the above students and their parents, homeroom teachers and college counselors!

The school encourages students to have the courage to explore and actively participate in various academic activities of interest, hoping that they will look forward to the future and not be afraid of challenges. Whatever the outcome, it's a valuable experience in life.
