Against School Bullying – BC Pink Shirt Day Event Sharing

Publish time:2021.03.15 Publisher:

The history of Pink Shirt Day began in 2007. In Nova Scotia, Canada, 12th grader David M Shepard, Travis Price and several friends saw a 9th grader being bullied for wearing a pink shirt on the first day of school. They knew they had to do something to show that the behavior was discouraged, so they decided to go out and buy a bunch of pink shirts to distribute to other students. By that weekend, most of the students at the school were wearing pink shirts to show support for the bullied ninth-grader.

On the day of the event, teacher David Roy screened relevant films to the students, so that everyone could understand the different forms of school bullying, the tragedy caused and the alarm bells they sounded. Kevin O'Brien, President of BC, delivered a speech and called on everyone to love and care for each other; Encourage everyone to seek out friends, teachers, student councils, and other campus organizations when they need help.

The theme of this year's Pink Shirt Day is "Lift each other up." To support convenience is to accept and respect the other person, regardless of their race, culture, religion, sexual orientation or gender identity; In other words, focus on the strengths, abilities, and commonalities of others. That is to say, we need to take the time to understand different perspectives and share experiences.

Pink Shirt Day is a traditional event of the British Columbia School in Canada to promote the fight against bullying in schools and to show students that even a little good can make a difference. The event has been held every year since the inception of Meilun, and related speeches, short videos will be watched together, and students will share ideas together. On the day of the event, all BC students will wear pink clothes to show their support for anti-bullying in schools.
