On May 7, teachers and students from MIC braved the rain to enter Dinghu Mountain National Nature Reserve, embarking on an immersive ecological study tour. As China's first national nature reserve, Dinghu Mountain offers an excellent natural classroom for students with its rich biodiversity and unique ecosystem.

The event featured four specially designed thematic projects. In the "Silver Pheasant Conservation Project," students used binoculars to track the silver pheasant, a second-class protected animal in China, and gained an in-depth understanding of the survival status of this rare species through dietary surveys and interviews with tourists. The "Introduction to Plant Phenology" project transformed students into nature observers, recording the flowering and fruiting cycles of different plants and experiencing the rhythm of life.

Along the winding mountain paths, students visually experienced the fascinating patterns of vegetation changes with altitude in the "Forest Vertical Zonation" project. The most professional project, "Rainfall Interception," turned students into research teams, analyzing the crucial role of forests in soil and water conservation by measuring the water interception capacity of different vegetation types.

"Seeing the silver pheasants from our textbooks walking in the forest with our own eyes is an experience that cannot be replicated in the classroom!" students excitedly shared. This activity perfectly combined theoretical knowledge with practice, cultivating students' scientific research abilities, allowing them to measure nature with their feet and interpret ecology with science, while also deepening their awareness of ecological conservation.
