Literary Studies 12: “The Art of Literary Discovery”

Publish time:2025.06.27

The BC Literary Studies course, designed for grade 12 students, provides a comprehensive exploration of literature. The course sharpens critical thinking and literary analysis, delves into a rich tapestry of diverse perspectives and cultures, and promotes creative and expressive writing through various literary techniques. The overarching goal of this course is to cultivate a lifelong appreciation for literature and to strengthen critical literacy skills that are not only crucial for further education but also for life beyond school.

The final project for this course consisted of a multifaceted assessment that challenged students to apply the knowledge they had gained throughout the semester. Students were given choices of which literary piece they liked to portray. Before their drama presentations, students also conducted a character analysis (STEAL-Characterization) and identified elements of short stories. Ultimately, students expressed their ideas more creatively and interactively, effectively meeting the objectives of the BC Literary Studies Course.
