While our students are still enjoying their summer break, the teaching team at MIC has already returned to campus and begun preparing for the new academic year.
From new staff induction to the all-staff meeting; from academic professional development to homeroom teacher and emergency response training; from teaching workshops to deep-cleaning and back-to-school preparations in the boarding residences—every detail is being carefully and systematically prepared.
At the all-staff meeting for the new academic year, Principal Feng Xiaosheng welcomed the new members of the MIC community and expressed his appreciation to all colleagues who remained on campus throughout the summer, contributing to student recruitment, campus development, and preparations for the new academic year.
Looking back, the development of MIC has been made possible through the collective efforts of every member of our staff. Looking ahead, we will continue to move forward together.
Principal Feng emphasized the importance of having a shared philosophy, a shared direction, and shared goals, working together more closely to embrace the opportunities and challenges of the new academic year.

UK Academic Vice Principal Daniel shared his thoughts on Student-Centred Learning.
He emphasized that education should not focus solely on students’ academic outcomes, but should also develop their ability to think independently, navigate complex problems, and overcome challenges.
By paying attention to students’ learning readiness and emotional state, providing appropriate scaffolding, and using effective formative feedback, teachers can create an environment where students feel safe and trusted—an environment where they are willing to think deeply, make mistakes, and continue to grow.
BC Division Principal Dr. James focused his presentation on the importance of relationships between teachers and students.He emphasized that education is not only about Teaching, but also about Reaching—truly reaching every student. Curriculum frameworks are undoubtedly important, but trust and relationships between teachers and students are equally essential to meaningful learning.
He encouraged teachers to get to know their students more deeply and listen to them carefully, so that every student can feel:
“There is someone here who understands me, and someone who believes in me.”
Different perspectives, one shared purpose:
Put students at the centre of education, so that every student is seen, understood, supported, and believed in.
Educational philosophy only becomes meaningful when it is put into action.
On August 19, MIC held an induction and training programme for new staff, helping new teachers understand the school, become part of the team, and prepare for their work in the classroom.
On August 20, all BC Division teachers gathered in the auditorium for the first Professional Development Day (PD Day) of the new academic year. The event was organised around a series of professional discussion sessions. Six groups of teachers presented and discussed key topics including “One School, One Purpose,” “The Grading Dilemma,” and “Who Gets to Take AP?”
Through this professional dialogue, the team further strengthened shared understandings and prepared for effective classroom practice in the new academic year.
At the same time, MIC has also conducted emergency response training and homeroom teacher training, incorporating student management, safety, wellbeing, and pastoral responsibilities into the overall preparations for the new academic year.
Because genuine student-centred education does not happen only in the classroom. It is reflected in every detail of a student’s experience on campus.
While our teachers are preparing, the campus is preparing too.
Before students return, the Boarding Department has carried out deep cleaning of the residences, including specialised sanitisation and dust-mite removal, ensuring a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment for students as they return to campus.
From teacher training to academic workshops; from homeroom responsibilities to emergency preparedness; from classroom planning to boarding facilities—
every detail, however small, serves one shared purpose: to make sure that when our students return, they will find an MIC that is fully prepared for them.
